Motivation
There are three main reasons that motivate me to write these short novels.
Creating What I Wanted to Read
We live in a time when problems are bombarding us from all sides. Not only the news, but also movies and television films are filled with action, violence and conflict.
I want to get away from that. I am looking for entertainment that is light, humorous, largely non-violent and yet exciting. It should make us forget our everyday lives for a while and take us to another world.
I also like short stories. They allow you to read a self-contained story on a journey, during a break or before going to bed.
You don’t find many of those stories these days. So I started writing what I would like to read myself.
Experiment
They say a master has made more mistakes than a beginner’s attempts.
With this project, I want to find out if I, as an amateur and self-taught writer, can conceive, write and publish exciting stories – just for fun.
My first attempts sounded like a school essay. The stories led nowhere, the sentences were bumpy, the characters were superficial. But I didn’t give up. I read books about writing stories. And I kept writing, discarding, rewriting, experimenting with different styles.
This short novel series is the result of more than two years of preparatory work. I am proud of what I have learned and achieved during that time, and very curious about the development I will still make on this journey.
You Can Do It Too!
I want to motivate you to discover your own creativity and have the courage to create and publish something yourself.
When you read books or watch movies, it’s impressive to see what professionals and masters of their craft can do.
Unfortunately, it is also intimidating and demotivating. You measure yourself against these results and get the feeling that you will never be able to reach such a level yourself. So you often don’t even try.
But it doesn’t matter! We should measure our hobbies by the fun we have with them, not by their economic value.
So go for it! What are you waiting for?
