One thing about this website has bothered me for a long time. Whether it’s a short story or not, something interrupts you, you fall asleep, reach your train station, or get a call from your in-laws. When you finally open the story webpage again to continue, you find yourself back at the beginning, searching for where you left off.

That’s finally a thing of the past!

While you are reading the story, the browser now remembers the paragraph that is currently displayed at the top of the screen. If you return to the story later, the browser immediately jumps to this paragraph and you can continue reading. This all happens automatically, without having to press any buttons.

The reading progress is stored in your browser in a privacy-friendly way and is not sent to the server.

However, this also means that the progress is not synchronized between multiple devices. So you can’t start a story on your smartphone and continue it on your PC later. That’s the small price to pay for a privacy-friendly solution.
